Fit For Purpose?

Being that I work in the NHS, the phrase 'Fit for Purpose' is ingrained into my brain.

With that in mind, I present my latest FO for your perusal:

Pattern: Round Dishcloth by Amy Carpenter
Yarn: Zettl Colorado 100% Cotton. Colourway: 9036 Green/yellow
Size: One Size
Knit for: Gracie
Comments: My 2nd dishcloth. Picked by Gracie herself. Used one whole skein with only 12 inches left!

Ok, so it's a dishcloth! But Gracie (Jomp's youngest, age 9) asked me to knit her a facecloth. I think it's far too pretty to be used for dishes anyway, don't you?

It has sat in my WIP basket for the last 6 weeks, 80% done and poor Gracie has asked every weekend "Have you finished my flannel?". I've been preoccupied with other knits, primarily my CPH but today I'm at home sick so decided to get it finished. It only took 20 minutes! I wish I'd done it sooner!

I want to knit more dishcloths but there is such a lack of nice cotton yarn over here. I really want some Sugar 'n' Cream cotton, widely available in the States. It comes in such lovely colours but I've yet to find it here. I'll keep my eye on eBay! Not that I need an excuse!

Much more suited for a face than a boring old dish. Very pretty colour.

That's a gorgeous facecloth! I'd like to make a few for my Mum but don't have any cotton. Do you use mercarized or just normal?
I like the anonymous comment above!!

My friend Jo's shop sells a wide range of the Peaches and Creme cottons (similar to Sugar and cream) and they are lovely and soft to knit with and also come in lots of colours. I've knitted up a few dishcloths with it.

Jo's website is www.crafty-cottage.co.uk. She doesn't have online shopping at the moment, but I'm sure she'd be willing to mail you some if you're interested.

Hi - very pretty face cloth.
I don't wish to sound cheeky but do you know where I might get hold of some of that wool? I found your blog by searching for 'Zettl Colorado'. I'm in the process of crocheting a sweater for my niece in that very colour and I have a horrible feeling I'm going to be a ball or two short. I got mine from Lidl months ago and I haven't seen any in store since then. Any info on sources would be gratefully recieved!

Hi Anonymous!

I hope you check back here! I have another 5 balls that you are very welcome to have if you need them?

Not sure about the dye lot but will check for you if you want me to?

Janey.

Hi Janey,

I am glad I chacked back! That would be great, if you don't mind? I could send you some cash for them or some more wool/cotton in return?
I'm not too bothered about the dye lot matching up - it won't show up too much if it's not an exact match with it being varigated anyway.... at least not as much as the sweater having half an arm on one side :)
Thanks again,
Vic

Hi Vic,

Hope you check back again as your comment doesn't give a contact email.

How many balls do you want? And I'm happy just to send them to you...probably a good idea to reduce my stash a bit!!

If you let me know your email address we can sort it out!

Janey
