But it would take me about two weeks to knit a pair of socks so I imagine I'll be killed in the first round. At least you are guaranteed a pair of hand knit socks, knit by someone other than me!
So, your advice please! Has anyone participated in Sock Wars I or II? Is anyone having a go this time? If not, why not?

I'm the same as you - I'm tempted, but I know that I'd die a swift and embarassing death in the first round! I'm intending to keep an eye out for the next session of the Hat Wars one, though. I might stand a chance in that!

I was thinking about it, but it takes me ages to knit socks! The small needles cause me pain in my fingers if I knit them too long so much as I love them they tend to be my back-up and travle knitting projects. So I decided not to. Plus I have a long queue of socks that I want to KEEP! LOL.

This one scares me too - I'd be a goner in the first round for sure - though as you say at least you'd get a pair of socks :o)
I have only ever knitted the basic sock pattern on DPNS so that wouldn't quite cut the mustard. There are so many fancy patterns out there. Id never heard of socks wars so I will look but maybe take part next time when ive conquered another pattern. You should go for it!!
My gosh Janey...sock wars? I can't stand it. The pressure would be too great...I think you could definitely take up ice climbing if you can do sock wars!! :)
